Surakarta, December 13, 2019 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) formed a collaboration with Dong-A University, South Korea. Both of these universities signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between UMS and Dong-A University was carried out in the BPH Meeting Room, Siti Walidah Building.
The documents of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the student mobility programs; students exchange and double degree program. This was done to strengthen collaboration between 3 faculties at UMS and 3 faculties at Dong-A University. 3 Faculties in UMS are; Faculty of Communication and Informatics, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Economics and Business. While 3 Faculties at Dong-A University are College of Social Sciences, College of Engineering, and College of Business Administration. So that later, students who take double degree in these faculties will study at two universities; two years at UMS and two years at Dong-A University.
President of Dong-A University, Dr. Suk Jung Han and staffs who came from Dong-A University were welcomed in the UMS Rector’s office. Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si accompanied by Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Da’i, Vice Rector II, Sarjito, Ph.D, Secretary of Rector, Dr. Anam Sutopo, and Head of BKUI, Supriyono, Ph.D welcomed the delegations of Dong-A University. What’s interesting is, the President of Dong-A University, Dr. Suk Jung Han, a non-Muslim came with a black cap (peci) and greeted the UMS leaders using Indonesian.
After being welcomed in the Rector’s room, they headed to the BPH meeting room to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for Three Faculties between UMS and Dong-A University. Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anis, M.Si, said that his party had studied the draft MoA submitted by Dong-A University and agreed to cooperate.
After the MoA was signed, each faculty members, both UMS and Dong-A University, had further discussions related to the technical collaboration. The meeting ended with giving souvenirs from each university.
