ums.ac.id, SURAKARTA – The Office of Cooperation and National Affairs (BKUI) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), in collaboration with Industry and Business Partners (DUDI), held a Workshop on Industry and the Workforce in collaboration with DUDI partners. The event took place at the Mohammad Djazman UMS Auditorium Building on Monday, August 14.
Andy Dwi Bayu Bawono, Ph.D., Head of BKUI UMS, explained that the event, attended by Heads of Study Programs (Kaprodi) and their representatives, aimed to align perceptions regarding the Human Resources (HR) needs of companies.
“The hope is that Kaprodi and deans can revise the curriculum to align with market demands that are in line with current industry standards,” Andi expressed.
He also mentioned that DUDI partners would be invited to become practitioner lecturers at UMS.
Koko Tjatur Rachmadi, the CEO of PT. KB Bank Bukopin Syariah, who also served as a speaker, mentioned that UMS has been a long-time partner of Bank Bukopin Syariah, with several collaboration programs specifically designed for Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Higher Education (PTMA) institutions.
In addition to the CEO of KB Bank Bukopin Syariah, the event featured four other speakers: Ghery Akbar, VP-Head of People Development and Culture Engagement at PT. Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison; Ika Yunita Kartikasari, M.Si., Human Capital Development Manager at PT. Indofood; Abdul Nasir, Head of Human Capital at PT. Pamapersada; and Daud Abadi, Deputy Director of External Relations at Farma and Food PT. Konimex.
Abdul Nasir, Head of Human Capital at PT. Pamapersada Nusantara, emphasized that universities must prepare and provide early guidance to their students regarding the working world.
“Students should be directed from the beginning of their semester, so they won’t be confused about what job to take and where to work when they reach the seventh or eighth semester,” Abdul Nasir explained.
Abdul Nasir also added that there are several things that students should prepare for during their studies, including honing hard and soft skills, self-assessment, building relationships and a professional image, and career insights. (Eva/Public Relations)
