On Monday, August 19, 2024, the Global Affairs Department of Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia conducted a strategic visit to the Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) to discuss potential academic collaborations. The meeting, held at the UMS BPH Meeting Room, aimed to explore opportunities for UMS faculty and students to participate in study and exchange programs at MSU.
This initiative is expected to open doors for UMS staff and students to engage in mobility activities at MSU Malaysia, contributing to UMS’s efforts in enhancing its QS World University Rankings. The collaboration seeks to strengthen the ties between the two institutions, fostering a robust academic network that could extend into broader areas such as joint research and publication.
Among the collaborative programs proposed by MSU is a co-funded research initiative, which would see both institutions sharing budgetary responsibilities equally. Other proposed activities include:
– Scopus-Indexed Outcome Collaborations
– Credit Transfer Programs (Available Virtually)
– Guest Lectures (Available Virtually)
– Community Service Initiatives (Available Virtually)
– Human Resource Development Programs
– Outcome-Based Seminars or Workshops
– Joint Supervisor or Co-Supervisor Arrangements
– Fast-Track Joint Degree Programs
– Matching Fund Mechanisms
It is hoped that this collaboration will significantly enhance the academic and research capabilities of both institutions, paving the way for more comprehensive and impactful engagements in the future.
