ums.ac.id, SURAKARTA – The International Cooperation Bureau of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (BKUI UMS) organized a Group Discussion Forum (FGD) to discuss international class and mobility programs in preparation for UMS’s vision and mission to become a world-class university.
This event took place over two days, from May 11 to 12, 2023, in the Seminar Room of the Siti Walidah UMS Main Building. After the presentation of materials, the deans and related bureaus will discuss the materials in line with UMS’s vision and mission.
Vice Rector V for Cooperation and International Relations, Prof. Supriyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., mentioned that UMS’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si., frequently states that UMS aims to become a world-class university by 2029.
“It is our hope that we will formulate or define what international class means at UMS in the future,” Supriyono explained.
He also mentioned that there are indicators for becoming a world-class university based on the QS World University Ranking (WUR), particularly in terms of internationalization. Internationalization indicators can be seen in the number of foreign students, outbound mobility, and other factors.
By inviting a speaker from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Ndaru Zigma Amalia MA, which currently holds the top rank among Indonesian universities in the QS WUR 2023, it is hoped that ideas or suggestions can be provided to define UMS’s internationalization.
“We invite you to participate, try to think, share ideas, provide suggestions on international class and mobility programs to be held at UMS,” Supriyono said to the FGD participants.
Through the presentation by the coordinator of the international class program at UGM’s Bachelor of Management and Public Policy Program, Ndaru Rizqa Amalia, S.IP., M.A, the deans and educators were able to learn about the steps taken by that program to support its ranking. These steps include the learning system, international experiences for students, learning environments, and the qualifications of lecturers for international programs. (Maysali/Humas)
