Surakarta, The Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) visited the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) to continue its collaboration with UMS. The visit took place in the Office of the Rector at the Siti Walidah Main Building of UMS on Monday, July 17th.
UMS Rector Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si, and Head of the Academic Cooperation Development Division, Denny Vitasari, Ph.D., warmly welcomed the IUIU delegation. During their discussion, the IUIU Vice Rector for Administration and Finance expressed the hope that UMS would provide additional scholarships as part of their cooperation.
In addition to scholarships, the two universities have previously collaborated in research and faculty exchange for teaching purposes.
“So, we intend to continue the cooperation between IUIU and UMS because back in 2018, we agreed to cooperate,” said Prof. Mpaata.
IUIU will send its students to pursue Master’s and Doctoral programs at UMS, especially in the field of Chemical Engineering. Mpaata also explained that if their cooperation continues, there will be benefits for both universities and countries.
“So, if we implement this, it means that these two countries will benefit from each other,” explained the IUIU Vice Rector.
“If we proceed without any obstacles, there will be progress in research,” he continued.
Reflecting on the situation, Mpaata shared that currently, Indonesian-produced commodities in the food and daily necessities sector are widely distributed in Uganda. He believes that Uganda has now become more open and less closed.
Before meeting with the UMS Rector, the IUIU delegation took the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Dentistry at UMS and was impressed by the excellence and progress in the faculty.
