Preparing Excellent and Global Graduates, BKUI UMS holds FGD with DUDI Partners

Solo, The development of the business and industrial world in the current era of globalization requires the readiness of human resources who can adapt to the needs of the business world and the industrial world.

The Office of Collaboration and International Affairs (BKUI) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme: “Preparing Reliable Human Resources in the Globalization Era” on Saturday (27/08/2022) at the Harris Hotel Solo. This event was attended by all the Deans of the Faculty and the Head of Department Programs (Kaprodi) at UMS.

BKUI UMS through the Field of Business and Work Industry Collaboration (IDUKA) and Professional Training at this event brought about 20 practitioners from the business and industry worlds. Practitioners who attended included business owners to human resource forums.

The head of the FGD committee, Andy Dwi Bayu Bawono, Ph.D., said that with this forum, UMS can prepare graduates who are ready to work.

“In this forum, what is needed in the industrial world is equated with what is produced on campus. This meeting with practitioners is expected to be able to prepare prospective graduates according to the needs that will be absorbed by the business world and industry,” said Andy, who is also the Head of the Business and Work World Industrial Collaboration (IDUKA) and Professional Training BKUI UMS.

When giving a speech, the Vice Chancellor of UMS for Cooperation and International Affairs, Prof., Supriyono, Ph.D., said that campuses must be close to the needs of the business and industrial world. Supriyono also conveyed that there are boundaries between the campus world and the industrial world.

“Currently, competition between universities, especially private campuses, when graduating is expected to get a better life. So on this opportunity to absorb all information from practitioners, Study Program must be able to use it as material for preparing a curriculum that is following the needs of the business world and industry, “said Supriyono.

Supriyono hopes that this forum can have a positive impact on UMS by increasing public trust.

In this FGD, practitioners from the business world and industry were invited as resource persons, including Hendric Syahriza (PT. R-PAC Packaging Indonesia), Okta Wirawan (PT Abuya Berkah Indonesia), Ardi Dwi (Prixa), and Syahriza (PT Gaya Makmur Tractors)
