UMS Conducts Assessment for Prospective Professional Assessors

ums.ac.id, SURAKARTA – The Certification Institute of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) conducted the Assessment of Prospective Assessors with 24 participants on Friday, September 1, at the Faculty of Economics and Business on UMS Campus 2.

The training and assessment of Competency Assessor Candidates are essential activities aimed at supporting the fulfillment of the qualification standards of competency assessors in accordance with the guidelines of the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

Andy Dwi Bayono, SE., M.Si., Ph.D., Head of BKUI UMS, stated that the Certification Institute of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta organized the assessment of prospective assessors involving 24 participants at the Professional Certification Institute of UMS.

“Our goal is to certify the prospective assessors, with the hope that they become proficient assessors in evaluating the competencies of UMS students before they become alumni,” said the Head of BKUI UMS.

Prior to this, he explained, the 24 prospective assessors had already undergone training in Competency Assessment by the Professional Certification Institute conducted over four days from August 28 to August 31, 2023, at Grand Candi in Semarang.

“The training aims to equip prospective assessors with: (1) Improved Knowledge and Skills in the Assessment Process; (2) Analytical Skills; (3) Communication Skills; (4) Ethics and Professionalism; (5) Certification and Accreditation,” he elaborated.

These prospective assessors are related to seven schemes, including Digital Marketing, Empowerment Facilitator, Occupational Health and Safety (K3), Human Resource Management, Programming, Accounting Technician, and Entrepreneurship.

On this occasion, Master Assessor from BNSP, Sri Pudiyastuti, S.E., M.M., explained that this activity begins with registration, consultation, the assessment process, and ultimately the recommendation for assessors.

“These competencies are provided so that participants can carry out their duties, which are to assess UMS students. Assessors must be professional. In addition, in the future, they must be able to distinguish between their roles as teachers and assessors,” she concluded.

The participants were divided into two classes, each containing 12 participants, including UMS lecturers from various sectors, ranging from programmers to accountants, and more. After all participants are recommended as competent, BNSP will be recommended to issue assessor licenses.
