On Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Six International students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta visited SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta accompanied by Hepy Adityarini, Ph.D, the Head of International Programs and 2 staff members of Bureau of Collaborations and International Affairs (BKUI).
Their visit to the school was part of Bahasa Indonesia Course Program (BIPA). The aim of the visiting program is to give the opportunity for the students to engage with Indonesian students using Bahasa Indonesia. Four Darmasiswa students from various countries; Liao Yingting (China), Omnia Mohamed Daif (Egypt), Rigina Muftakhova (Russia), Mathus Moeithaisong (Thailand), and Two KNB students; Phoumchay Vongvilay and Khamlan Phommavongsa from Laos.
From 6 international students were divided into 3 groups to enter into 3 classes, 7th grade, 8th grade, and 9th grade. They introduced themselves and their country, how to count in several different languages, giving quizzez, etc. All students in each class were happy and enthusiastic because they have new experience interacting with foreigners. Similarly, the student of KNB and Darmasiswa were enthusiastic since they can introduce their culture and practice Bahasa Indonesia at the same time. They wanted to be a volunteer to be able to teach them in their spare time.
