ums.ac.id, SOLO – The Language and General Knowledge Institute of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (LBIPU UMS) received a visit from Russell Ogden, the Director of the Indo Austay Adult Immersion Program, in the meeting room of the International Cooperation Bureau on Thursday (April 27).
Russell Ogden’s visit was welcomed by the Head of LBIPU, Dr. M. Thoyibi, and his team, including Dr. Abdilah Nugroho, Yanuar Ihtiyarto SS, M. Kom, Dr. Laili Etika Rahmawati, and Nur Amalia, M.Teach, who is also the Head of Student Mobility and Hospitality. “This meeting is an exploration of potential collaboration,” said Dr. Thoyibi.
He explained that if this collaboration materializes, it would be excellent for UMS because the university would gain broader experience from the presence of Indonesian language learners from Australia.
According to Russell Ogden, his organization is exploring the possibility of establishing a more intensive partnership with UMS. The Indo Austay Program has already been running in Bandung. “It’s not just about learning the Indonesian language; we also want to learn about the culture here,” he stated.
Yanuar elaborated that there are plans for Australians who are currently learning the Indonesian language to come directly to UMS. They will learn about the Indonesian language and culture.
During the meeting, Nur Amalia expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, and in the near future, it will be formalized in a memorandum of understanding. This collaboration will become a kind of UMS’s regular short course program offered to other countries. “We will enhance global interactions, creating a more diverse diversity,” she explained. (Humas)
